Hi, I’m trying to get a collection of some tried and true crockpot recipes. Any recipe that you’ve made in your own crockpots or slowcookers that you know taste great. I just got my first awesome looking recipe from Yahoo Food videos called Asian Crockpot from the show Cheap N Easy – I love Brooke’s recipes, they’re so good cept she only has that 1 crockpot recipe. If you haven’t checked out her Food Videos on Yahoo, I highly recommend them. Ok so anyway, does anyone have any other crockpot recipes? :)

This is so good– my mother-in-law requests me to bring it to family gatherings:

All Day Mac and Cheese

8 ounces elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
12 ounces evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

Combine the macaroni, 3 cups of the cheese, evaporated milk, milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Place in a greased crockpot. Top with remaining cheese. Cover; cook on low for 5-6 hours.

Yum, my favorite things!!! Hope this helps

JUICY GRILLED HAMBURGERS

1 lb. lean ground beef
3 tbsp. chopped onions
3 tbsp. catsup
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Dash of Tabasco sauce

Mix all ingredients together well and place covered mixture in the refrigerator for several hour to marinate, before grilling. Form hamburger patties in a dish with vertical sides to eliminate a thin dried edge when cooked.

CHARCOAL-GRILLED T-BONE STEAK WITH
BROILED ONIONS COWBOY STYLE

4 lg. red onions, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
1/2 c. clarified butter
4 T-bone steaks, cut 2 inches thick or more, rubbed with salt, freshly ground pepper and olive oil
Barbecue sauce
2 lg. ripe tomatoes, peeled, halved, seeded, chopped and drained
Vinaigrette
Deep-fried okra

Spread onion slices on baking sheet. Drizzle with some of the butter, turning slices to coat both sides. Place onions under broiler and cook until golden, basting with additional butter. Turn onions to cook both sides. Onions should be tender, but crisp and golden.
Grill steaks over lump charcoal (not briquettes). Drizzle onions with barbecue sauce of your choice. Toss tomatoes in a vinaigrette and put on top of the onions. Serve with grilled steaks and deep fried okra.

My mom used to make lemon chicken,shes not with us anymore. I think she used to soak the chicken in lemon juice over night in the fridge, then she floured it and had it over rice.It was one of my favorites.I just can’t remember exactly how she made it taste so good.I appricate any recipes.Thanks!!

Lemon Chicken I

"Easy recipe – serve with baked potato or rice."
Servings: 4

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 (3 pound) whole chicken, quartered
* 1 dash garlic powder
* 1 pinch salt
* 1 pinch ground black pepper
* 1 onion, thinly sliced
* 1 green bell pepper, sliced
* 1 lemon, juiced
* 1/2 cup white wine
* 1 pinch dried parsley

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. Season chicken with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place in 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Add onion and bell pepper slices by placing on top of chicken. Pour lemon juice and wine over entire chicken. Cover with foil.

3. Bake for 1 hour. Remove foil, and brown for about 15 minutes longer. Garnish with parsley flakes, and serve.

It doesn’t say to soak the chicken in the juice overnight, but you sure could, I bet it’d be delicious and tender!

I’m running for vice president for my school and I’m handing out mini menu’s and I’m searching for tips and interesting recipes! Hopefully you can help me.

Anything that incorporates fruits and veggies. Add protein by means of peanut butter dippers or calcium enrichment with cheese. You might want to make chicken roll ups with tortillas and cheese, lettuce, tomatoes. Fun food always increases the chances students will want to eat right. Pizza using whole wheat dough and fresh veggies and tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese which is low fat.

I like to make "stir fry" kind of meals, noodles, veggies and meat but all of the recipes I find also include 10 different things just to make the sauce, usually stuff I don’t have at home. So, I was wondering if there is a lazy way but good quality sauce that I don’t have to make from scratch. Any suggestions and/or SUPER easy recipes would be appreciated! Thanks!

There are several store bought sauces that work great for stir fry. Here are a few you might like:

Teriyaki sauce/marinade
Oyster sauce
Hoisin sauce
Pad Thai sauce
Black Pepper sauce
Sweet Chili sauce

All of these are available in the Asian sections of most grocery stores and several brands are available for each. They are all great by themselves in dishes, or mix and match to your own taste for something unique.

Hope this helps!

I want to start her with chicken..

Any recipes? She is 7 months old and has no teeth yet.

I make casserole which is just chicken (or beef or lamb) slow cooked in stock with some potato, carrots and sweet potato. I was pureeing it for my LO at 6 or 7 months but now he is 9 months he is eating it whole. The vegies go really nice and soft and the meat is so tender that it is easy for him to chew even tho he still doesnt have any teeth!

Oh and we eat it for dinner too so dont have to double up on the cooking!

Here’s a link to a bunch of recipes for 6-9 month olds.

My daughter generally eats pretty healthy, but I am tired of eating the same things. We eat a lot of pita pizzas, nitrate free organic hot dogs and pasta. She loves shrimp, but as you know it can get quite expensive. Perhaps some recipes to stretch the shrimp. She doesn’t really like chicken that much. She loves steak, again expensive, but also not that healthy.

HEALTHY POTATO SOUP

3 cups potatoes, cubed
1 cup water
1/2 cup carrot, sliced
1/2 cup onion, diced
1/2 tsp. salt
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 1/2 cups lowfat milk
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 lb cheese, grated

Cook the vegetables (first 5 ingredients) until done. Don’t drain!
Add next 4 ingredients (bouillon through cheese). Cook until thickened.

Makes 3 – 4 servings.

HEALTHY & EASY TUNA SANDWICHES

1 can tuna
4 tbsp non-fat sour cream
2 tbsp sweet relish
1/4 cup finely shredded mozzarella cheese
dash of salt and pepper

Mix tuna, non-fat sour cream, sweet relish (add more or less to taste), cheese and seasoning. Spread on toasted bread or on crackers – it’s delicious!
(I think it’s best with whole wheat or squaw bread.)

Enjoy!
