Salad Dressings

Salad is a mixture of hot and cold foods commonly made up of fruits and vegetables and then mixed with dressing such as crouton or nuts. Sometimes, whole grains, cheese, pasta, fish or meat are also added. It is usually served before or after the main meal as a dessert or appetizer.

This light meal has various types such as the caesar salad and green salad. The usual kind contains croutons and romaine lettuce dressed with black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, egg, olive oil and lemon juice as well as parmesan cheese.

Green salad is frequently composed of several vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes and carrots. It is also known as the garden salad. Other usual vegetables in garden salads include radishes, celery, carrots and avocado, red onions as well as spring onions, onions, mushrooms, peppers and cucumbers. Other ingredients include black beans, artichoke hearts, hard boiled eggs and olive, pasta, tomatoes as well as green beans, sweet corn, rice and cooked potatoes.

The heart of palm, roasted red peppers, cheeses, croutons, fish or meat are also occasionally added to green salads. Michigan salad, Greek salad, Cobb salad, chef salad and Caesar salad are various types of garden salads.

Entree salads may have either fried or grilled chicken fingers as well as seafood like fried or grilled shrimp placed on top of it. Fish steak, commonly tuna, salmon or mahi-mahi, can also be placed on top of the salad. Steaks like Sirloin can be sliced, grilled and placed over the entree salad.

Salad dressings differ across cultures. Traditional salad dressings in Southern Europe are vinaigrettes; while in Russia and Eastern Europe, it is mayonnaise. In Denmark, salad dressings are based on the crème fraiche. Most of the light edible oil is typically used as salad dressing. This would include safflower oil, soybean oil, corn oil and olive oil.

In a family, recipes are important ways of transmitting culture. But in these fast times, who else has the time to fill up a file case with recipe cards? There are so many great family recipes available on the internet nowadays. These baking recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients not hard to come by.

The traditional baking recipes might be seen as hard to follow because they require precise measurement. But in these times, there are easy ones that you can make in an hour or two. These actually trace their foundations to most family recipes, and one such example is baked baby back ribs.

Family recipes are not family recipes without their version of baby back ribs. The best one, however, is a combination of ingredients as well as a process that is easy to follow as well. First, you have to choose your perfect slab of baby back ribs. Next, you will assemble an interesting collection of ingredients that harmonize really well when put together.

For your baby back ribs, you will want to soften it halfway in a pressure cooker. This will ensure that it is soft enough to absorb the secret mixture but not to make it too tough to cook. After pressure-cooking it, take it out and put in a deep container. This next step will be followed by putting it in the refrigerator overnight.

Baking recipes come with a carnival of flavors. You can put together the following: honey, orange soda, barbeque sauce, chopped garlic, olive oil, ground basil, chili flakes, chopped onion, soy sauce, fresh cracked pepper and about a teaspoon of mustard. Put everything in the food processor and make it into a smoothie-type paste.

Next, pour everything into the pot with the baby back ribs but save around one fourth of the sauce. You will use this later. Cover the pot and put it in the refrigerator. The day you bake it, it will have absorbed the sauce really well.

Preheat your oven and try to pour the sauce so that every inch covers the ribs. You will have noticed by now that the sauce has lessened, and this is because the meat absorbed a good deal of it. To compensate, take out the extra sauce and put it in before you bake. While baking the ribs, you can occasionally drizzle some olive oil to keep it nice and moist without adding fat.

Drizzling oil to it is important. There are two reasons for this: you keep it from going dry and you add to the sauce without altering the taste. Because kids love the sauce, make sure there is more of it to go around.

As you take it out, make sure to scoop more of the sauce. It has thickened to a nice golden brown, almost maroon paste which is really yummy! Cut some slits onto it to get the sauce dripping in the middle. Serve it with a side of baked potatoes that work equally well with the famous sauce. As you modify it to your liking, you will definitely see it as a must-add to your collection of family recipes.

Family recipes are a lot yummier with this easy to make ribs. It is a must in your collection of baking recipes, and more can be found at our site.

It seems everyone today is looking for quick, healthy recipes they can use for their family. However, they seem to be somewhat difficult as usually recipes be either quick or healthy, but rarely both! But since so many people are working outside the home and are finding their schedules crammed with so many other activities and responsibilities even when they’re not working, finding quick, healthy recipes is a priority for many. No one has the time or the desire to stand over the sink chopping vegetables and no one has the time to wait for a dinner that takes hours to fix.

Interestingly enough you can come up with your own quick, healthy recipes simply varying the ingredients of your favorite recipes or by learning how to cook properly with different types of kitchen tools and gadgets.

As an example, when you use a rotisserie you can find quick, healthy recipes for just about any type of meat you might want. By having it cook on the rotisserie you’re having the grease and fat drip away from it rather than having the meat cook in its own fats. By using some marinades or seasoning mixes you may find that your main dishes come out much tastier this way then they ever did before and you don’t need to use fats to add flavor to your dishes. As a matter of fact, these quick, healthy recipes for your main dishes aren’t even really recipes but just better and healthier ways of preparing your meats so you don’t even need to follow instructions from a cookbook.

Some other ways of coming up with your own quick, healthy recipes is to reduce the amount of sugar you use to cook with when making desserts and other items. If you bake from scratch, try using applesauce as a sweetener or reducing your sugar by one-third. Use reduced fat mayonnaise or salad dressing; you don’t need to go with fat free completely as this might be too much of a change for you, but by just reducing fat and sugar you can come up with some great quick, healthy recipes that are still very palatable to you and your family. You can also cut back just a little bit to start with and then gradually work your way up to how much you want to reduce your sugar and fat content overall.

Sneak vegetables into your cooking whenever you can; this is how quick, healthy recipes are created in a professional kitchen. If you make meatloaf, add some chopped peppers and onions. Do the same when cooking soup – add additional chopped carrots, onions, and anything else your family enjoys. Slip some spinach into an omelet. These are all easy and quick tips but you would be surprised how often people ignore these tips when cooking. Making up your own quick, healthy recipes simply means being creative with your ingredients and your methods.

Of course it does no good to come up with these quick, healthy recipes if you and your family never actually eat the things you cook this way. Get into the habit of having a small salad or bowl of vegetable soup before each dinner and lunch. This doesn’t need to be a huge bowlful; just a few small bites before your main meal can make a tremendous amount of difference. You can also schedule what days you’re going to have your quick, healthy recipes and then save your special treats and indulgences for the weekend or another special time. Make sure the family knows that Monday is healthy night, Tuesday you’ll have what you want, Wednesday is another healthy night, and so on.

And get your family involved in coming up with and creating quick, healthy recipes. If the kids are busy in the kitchen they’re more likely to want to eat what they’ve prepared. You don’t want them to use dangerous knives and other equipment but they can certainly work with measuring and things such as this.

Grilled salmon is simply irresistible. The aroma and the rich taste are just too strong to turn down. For those who prefer fish over meat, salmon is a great choice since it is very healthy, too. Being paired with vegetables makes people appreciate the taste even more.  For those who want to try something good for the taste bud, the heart, and the pocket, finding grilled salmon recipes is no more than a piece of cake when done online.

Grilling is one perfect way to prepare salmon. This fish has relatively high good fat content which keeps it moist even when placed over coal for period of time. It has slimmer chance of drying up while being grilled. There are some things to remember if you want to come up with the best result.

The thickness of the fillet fish should be only around an inch thick. The skin can be removed depending on the seasoning that you would like to use. Salt and pepper should always be used.  When marinating salmon fillets, see to it that you only let it sit for more or less ten minutes. The flesh of this fish is too sensitive and is highly prone to breaking down in the presence of any acidic ingredient. This one of the usual reminders that you will find in grilled salmon recipes.  Gas grilling is recommended although other methods can also be a good option. To ensure that the meat is still intact while grilling, you may also opt to use aluminum foil to wrap the grill.

For very quick grilled salmon, you can simply cut rectangular pieces of salmon fillet and placed them atop of pre-cut aluminum file. Sprinkle your pieces of salmon with chopped garlic, salty, dill, pepper and a fee lemon drops.  Fold the foil and grill the meat quickly for 10 minutes on a pre-hit drill. Lastly, enjoy it with good tomatoes and other vegetables.

Kids love snacks. They always like it when they see snacks in their lunch bags or after school in the kitchen. But you always find it hard to think of quick easy snack ideas for kids. You have done several recipes already and you want to try other recipes so that your kids will not get tired of always eating the same snacks everyday. So to help you on your dilemma, here are some quick easy snack ideas for kids.

Yogurt. Choose your child’s favorite yogurt. If your kid loves strawberry or banana yogurt, then use these in your ingredients. All you need are popsicle molds, your kid’s favorite yogurt flavour, and some berries and fruits. Just pour the yogurt into the posicle molds and put them inside your refrigerator to freeze. You can even add berries or other chopped fruits for added flavor and texture. If you want a colorful popsicle yogurt, add food coloring. You can also make smoothies or parfaits using the same ingredients plus whipped cream, granola, and milk. This is a very nice snack for summer.

Vegetable snacks. Vegetables should be presented and cooked in a very creative way if you want your child to like them. Vegetables are probably at the top of your child’s “things that I hate” list. Instead of tossing all the vegetables together in a bowl when making a salad, why not create a masterpiece out of the ingredients? You can draw faces using the salad dressing and hair, eyes, nose, lips, and ears using different vegetable for your salad. Make sure that you let your child do the ‘art’ so that he or she will also be interested in eating it. Add kiddie ingredients like peanut butter and jelly if you want.

Trail Mix. This is very simple not to mention easy to prepare because you just need to combine the ingredients altogether for a one great and delicious snack. You can include granola, m&m’s, cereals, nuts, raisins, pretzels, banana chips, and other foods for that fulfilling snack your kids will surely enjoy.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. These are classic quick easy snack ideas for kids but you can add a twist to these traditional favorites. You can prepare them the usual way but cut the sandwiches into different interesting shapes. You can use cookie cutters if you want. You can also do this with other kinds of sandwiches such as ham and cheese, turkey, or chicken sandwiches.

Baked bagels or muffins. If you cooked spaghetti the night before, you can use leftover tomato sauce as a spread on muffins and bagels. Add cheese on the tomato sauce and toast it.

Fruits. You can also make a fruit salad using colorful fruits like melons, berries, grapes and other fruits which you can cut using cookie cutters to make them more fun and interesting for your little ones.

Snack Bars. You will need peanut butter, sugar, cereal, and corn syrup. In a heated saucepan, put all the ingredients together and stir them until they are melted. Add a generous amount of cereals. Incorporate all the ingredients together. Put the mixture in a rectangular pan and pat the mixture until it becomes firm. Slice them into desired size.
